I have had this radio for a year now and can say that it lives up to expectations. When on the ocean in the boat, kayak, dingy or even hiking around the islands this little radio is very reliable. Puts out good power and range and the battery last a long time. The greatest feature is that if is completely waterproof. I've gone swimming with this thing. If I were to ever have a marine emergency I'd want this radio with me.

Solid radio. Great quality! I live near the ocean, and although I haven't picked up and radio traffic on this radio, I do get a strong radio signal for the weather and water conditions. I will try to see if I pick up and traffic next time I am on the water, but as far as I can tell, this will be a valuable asset to have while on my boat.

Have 8 employees in a recycling yard so we have to communicate loud an clear. Does the job amazingly well. Affordable an can get insurance on them for cheap! Also weather proof. Win!

Great Basic Radio

This radio is great for the price range. It's a basic handheld ham radio (yes, you need a license to use this radio) with a basic set of features and decent performance. It's easily programmed with CHIRP and seems well supported with accessories and software. This is the perfect starter radio, inexpensive and simplistic.

Great radio and easy to use. READ the instructions and get with someone that knows radios to save any headaches that you make for yourself. Once you know the ins and outs you can get it on the air. I enjoy the radio. It is very functional and a great price.
