RT84 DCDM Dual Band Ham Radio

I've been ordering Retevis products for about a year now. Loved each and every one. This one works very well. Has notches on the side so you don't accidentally press the push to talk button. It has a very loud speaker and is very clear. For somebody that's looking for a radio that's well built and easy to use with proper programming, this is for you.

I have had many DMR hand-helds and this is one of the most rugged I have seen. The receivers is more sensitive than others and the transmitter section has posted RF out, while having great audio (as far as DRM goes). Thumbs up..

I bought this radio because I want to break into DMR at a later date. It arrived in good time and had the programming cable supplied as standard. I began programming it with the freely downloadable CPS software, which I found to be easy to use and very "user friendly". I set up a few "zones" to hold different bands, ie. Vhf, Uhf, Marine, Citizens Band. I found that this is a useful feature as the list of programmed frequencies grow. Regarding the Radio itself, it has a very good "feel" to it and the controls all are in good positions. One drawback I found is that it could be more stable when sitting on a flat surface, not in it's cradle. I have accidentally dropped mine twice because of this and it has survived nicely. Battery life is good for a 5 Watt radio. Standby time is excellent. I took a peek inside and saw that it is very well made, with the radio chassis held snugly in place, without being too tight. I did have an issue with my unit after a couple of months, and found the help team very obliging with suggestions as to the cause of the problem. I found the handbook a bit lacking, there is a lot more to this radio than the book describes. I am now experimenting with the DMR side of the radio and like the ability to send a text message and the caller ID. There seems to be no "called" alarm, maybe the next firmware could fix this. Excellent product that is totally secure and big brother would have a terrible time tracking you. Has a super range as well.

They exceeded my expectations. I used them in a large warehouse and they worked great! I stayed in the warehouse and had an employee go down the road about a mile and the still worked... Although we were getting close its limits

These are great radios. Full featured and easy to use. We really like the large display and 'cell phone like' usability. The radios are great, probably the best out there,

expensive but worth every penny. the unit is obviously very demanding on batteries and with batteries that are designed for that it works great and stays up and running many hours.
