I purchased this radio to take with me on my kayaking adventures. I travel a lot in a river that has a lot of power boats, so having a radio on board is a safety measure. I have capsized a few times and have had no issues. Battery life is phenomenal and the reception is very good. I have used it once, boat to boat.

so far works very well. Have not really tested the battery life but from what I have seen it's good. I'll report back if that changes but for now this is a great inexpensive radio.

Quality construction. As far as VHF radios go, it talks well depending on normal obstructions. The clarity is noticeable and I am looking forward to using these on kayak trips etc..

I really like the Retevis VHF Marine Radio. This is a real safety item for boating, especially in salt water. Having a small radio as a backup makes it easy to take when we go kayaking from our small boat,lso when the weather is bad and we happen to be stuck out in it the radio is small enough to fit in a pocket in case of emergency. This unit is also water proof which I consider a must for obvious reasons. This radio is a very good value and I highly recommend it.

Works great! I leave mine on to listen to boat traffic on the river and can get about 3 days out of a single charge. (Leaving it on during the day only and not transmitting.)
