Features are missing vs what is advertised here. Presume a firmware update will resolve but cant see that this is available yet. Record feature and FM radio are absent. VFO is deaf unless you enable Digi monitor as there is no access to RX groups via the rig interface. However with each PTT this gets disabled (bug?) Pros: - Nice build qual - Good battery life - Promising features (once FW updated) - CPS is quite good, better than some offerings similar layout with addition of some nice CSV call sign name import features. How can it be better? - Front panel access to RX groups badly needed VFO is useless without. - Fix Digi monitor toggling when PTT in VFO - Add the missing features! (FM radio and Record) Perhaps, I missing the FW update? Cant find it on the site. Currently waiting for Retevis to get back to me on that front.

Great size radio and display. It should have been more ergonomic when designed as it feels uncomfortable when holding. Battery life is not great even when you disable gps and listen to one channel only. Scanning continues searching 5s after picking signal and there is no option to configure the scanning function just like HD1. Also would love to see FM function and APRS. Programming needs better interface through the software and cable as it is hard to input analog repeaters. It is awkward that some menus are present in the radio configuration but are not accessible/usable. In conclusion, radio is good but could be best if you release firmware to match the functions of the cheaper RT3s.

Great starter radio for those getting in radio/HAM radios. We use it to train our cadets for Civil Air Patrol and works great. Again, it’s basic and simple enough for a beginner.
