These are some the best radios I've ever used
These are the best radios I've ever used. Their range is impressive! Was 5 miles apart with trees and buildings in between and one of us was driving away in a car.

No Mountain too high, no valley too low
At 9,500+ feet elevation, in heavily wooded and mountainous terrain, we were able to clearly communicate over 4 miles in an area where the cellular coverage was useless. With these radios we felt certain that we could maintain positive communication.

Very clear radios.
We abuse radios on construction sites so I tried something inexpensive. These are more clear than expensive Motorolas and it's less painful when they are stolen. The programmable feature didn't work for me- instuction disc didn't download and was in Chinese.

great radios! I bought the programming cable and programmed them to use a key or what ever you call it because the filter on these radios docent work very well if you live in the city other freqs bleed in to the one you are using. but once you program them it fixes the problem and you cant hear anyone else on the freq ex for your other radios you programmed

I'm in love with the commercial look & solid feel
I'm a ham and I'm in love with the commercial look, feel and sound of this rig. I've got all my popular local 2-meter repeaters plugged in and working them all with reports of full quieting. What attracted me to this radio was its advertised 10-watt output power and the simplicity of idiot-proof operation ... just like a commercial 2-way. In fact, I decided to try this in lieu of building a go-box to use for local ARES events. I think this will foot the bill using just its factory rubber-duck antenna (it comes with a long one and a short one for some reason). I setup the radio using the RT1 programming software provided on the Retevis website, using the retevis/Kenwood HT programming cable & drivers I already had. I'd hoped and expected that to be the case, so I was delighted and relieved. To be clear, it's not possible to program this radio without a computer as there's no keypad! If you've worked with the retevis H777, this is nearly an identical process. I've run this radio through its paces. The battery will last me two days with moderate use, including occasional QSOs and typical repeater traffic, so the included 3800 MAH battery proves very capable of an all-day ARES event. The actual power reading (see photo) exceeded my expectations. While I've never calibrated the meter, I can compare the readings with those of my Yaesu radios' output power settings. My meter showed 15 watts, which is something to take in stride because it's a cheap meter, but I am confident I'm pushing at least the rated 10-watts promised. Plus I get good signal reports from inside my office, located in a 4-story concrete and steel building. My impression of this VHF version of the Retevis RT1 that I received is very favorable. I was a little leery to drop $90 for such a limited transceiver, but thus far I have no regrets, considering my intended doesn't require a lot of flexibility in the field, and it's so much cheaper than building a go-box. If you have any questions, you may contact me at my callsign at ARRL ... or QR-zed me. 73 KD0ZPQ

5.0 out of 5 starsNice radios
Distance in and around farm land with some trees is about 1.5 miles, and almost 1.8 with the long antenna. This is actually betger than most other radios ive owned that were rated at 35 miles. I purchased the two units and both the ear pieces with push button mics died after about an hour of use. Radio is good but accessories are cheaply made. Customer service is great. They are sending me two new earpieces.

Charger base issues poor design.
These are a fantastic radio and they are heavy duty, had an issue with two of the batteries wouldn't charge but Retevis factory replaced them at no charge. Great customer service.

Far exceeded the specified range and specifications!
We purchased these for family communications when the power is out and cell towers are down. They FAR exceeded expectations in range. Measured by Google Maps, as the "crow flies" we had crystal clear communication at 9.2 miles! With the largest antenna attached. Very pleased.

This radio works great I downloaded the software from the website and it worked great. I would buy the same over after using this one it more than met all my expectations. It is also very easy to program. The distance is really good up to 5 miles. The company is really good about answering questions.
